DeBord and Nussmeier were both at Michigan last season; DeBord in the athletic department, and Nussmeier as Offensive Coordinator. It was a year ago this weekend that Nussmeier’s quarterback, Shane Morris, was concussed, and the Monday from Hell played out with DeBord in a minor role.

Jerry Montgomery (Defensive Line Coach 2011-12): Montgomery is in his second season as DL Coach with Oklahoma. The 4-0 Sooners are #4 in the land according to AP. Montgomery’s defensive line has contributed to a unit which has given up 99 rushing yards per game, 17th in the nation.

Mike Elston (linebacker 1993-96): A senior on Team 117, Elston is now the DL Coach for Notre Dame.
The Irish, 4-0, are ranked 9th in the land. Elston’s defensive line has contributed to a unit giving up 11.5 points per game, 4th in the nation.

Les Miles, offensive lineman 1972-75 and Offensive Line Coach 1987-94
Cam Cameron, WR Coach 1986-89; WR & QB Coach 1990-1993
Miles, a senior on Team 96, is now Head Coach at LSU, where Cameron is his Offensive Coordinator. The Tigers, 4-1 and ranked #15 by the AP, are 2nd in the nation in passing yards per completion, with 17.92.

Chuck Heater (running back 1971-74): Heater is in his second season as Marshall’s Defensive Coordinator. The Herd are 4-0 on the season. Heater’s defense is 5th in the nation in 3rd down conversion percentage defense, allowing opponents to convert on only 25.4% of 3rd down attempts.

Bruce Tall (Defensive Line Coach 2008-10): Now UNC Charlotte Defensive Coordinator.
In their second season in program history, the 49ers are now 3-2 on the season.

Scot Loeffler (quarterback 1993-96 and QB Coach 2002-07): In his second season as Offensive Coordinator with Virginia Tech. The Hokies are 3-2. Loeffler’s offense is 63rd in the country in total offense, averaging 422 yards per game.

Adam Stenavich (offensive line 2001-05): Now in his first season as Offensive Line Coach for Northern Arizona. The Lumberjacks are 3-2 this season, and ranked 25th in FCS. Stenavich’s offensive line has helped Northern Arizona to 161 rushing yards per game, 66th in FCS.

Scott Shafer (Defensive Coordinator 2008): Shafer is in his second season as Head Coach of the Orange.
Syracuse, 2-2, is 4th in the nation in sacks allowed, having only given up one for the entire season.

Mike Hart (running back 2004-07): A senior on Team 128, Hart is now Running Backs Coach for Western Michigan University. The Broncos are 2-2 this season. Hart’s running backs have rushed for 213 yards per game, 36th in the country.

Greg Frey (OL Coach 2008-10): Now Offensive Line Coach, Indiana.
Indiana is 2-2 on the season. Frey’s offensive line has helped the Hoosiers to 284 rushing yards per game, 12th in the nation.

Steve Stripling (Defensive Line Coach 2005-07): Stripling is in his second season as Defensive Line Coach at the University of Tennessee, 2-2. Stripling’s defensive line has contributed to a unit which is #1 in the nation in 3rd down conversion percentage (0.208).

Tony Gibson (Secondary Coach 2008-10): Now Defensive Coordinator with West Virginia.
The Mountaineers are 2-2. Gibson’s defense ranks 1st in the nation in 4th down conversion defense, having not allowed a 4th down conversion all season.

Vance Bedford (DB Coach 1995-98; Secondary Coach 2007): Now Defensive Coordinator at his alma mater, the University of Texas. The Longhorns are 2-2 on the season. Beford’s defense gives up 17 points per game, 20th in the land.

Adam Braithwaite (Safeties Coach, 2010): Now in his third season with UT Chattanooga, and his second as Defensive Coordinator. The Mocs are 2-2 and ranked #14 in the FCS. Braithwaite’s defense is 4th in FCS in redzone defense.

Mike Hankwitz (tight end 1967-69): A senior on the 1969 team, Hankwitz is now the Defensive Coordinator for Northwestern.
The Wildcats are 2-2. Hankwitz’s defense allows 17 points per game, 19th in the nation.

Curt Mallory and Manning are both coaching with their alma mater. Curt is in his fourth season; Manning is in his second season.
Michigan is now 2-3. The secondary is contributing to a unit that has given up 283 total yards per game, ninth in the country.

Lyall is now Head Coach of the Siena Heights Saints. The Saints are 1-2 on the young season.

Marcus Knight(wide receiver 1996-99): A senior on Team 120, Knight is now Northern Michigan University Wide Receivers Coach. A Division II squad, the Wildcats are 1-3 on the season. Knight’s wide receivers contribute to an offense which averages 13.65 yards per completion, 42nd in Division II.

Greg Robinson (Defensive Coordinator 2009-10): Now Defensive Coordinator, San Jose State University. The Spartans are 1-3 on the season. Robinson’s defense ranks 2nd in the nation in passing yards allowed per game, giving up 83 yards per game through the air.
