For three seasons (1999-2001), Foote was a linebacker for the Wolverines while Austin was Defensive Backs Coach. During this time, Michigan was 2-1 against Ohio State, 2-1 in bowl games, and won one Big Ten Championship.

Herrmann is now Linebackers Coach, New York Giants.
A coach and player from Michigan’s 1997 national championship team will both be coaching from the sidelines in Buffalo. Anderson, in his redshirt freshman season in 1997, and Herrmann, Michigan’s Defensive Coordinator in that undefeated season, will get a chance to say hello. Together in Ann Arbor for five years, they were part of three Big Ten Championship teams, one Rose Bowl team, one National Championship team, and were 3-2 against the Buckeyes.

Adam Braithwaite (Safeties Coach, 2010): Now in his third season with UT Chattanooga, and his second as Defensive Coordinator.
Chattanooga finished the regular season 9-3 and ranked #8 in FCS. The Mocs defeated Indiana State in the second round of the I-AA playoffs and now face top ranked New Hampshire.

Music City Bowl; Nashville, TN.
Mike Elston (linebacker 1993-96): A senior on Team 117, Elston is now the DL Coach for Notre Dame.
Les Miles, offensive lineman 1972-75 and Offensive Line Coach 1987-94, and
Cam Cameron, WR Coach 1986-89; WR & QB Coach 1990-1993
Miles, a senior on Team 96, is now Head Coach at LSU, where Cameron is his Offensive Coordinator. The Tigers finished the regular season with an 8-4 record, ranked #23 in the land.
Cameron was WR and RB Coach during Elston’s freshman year with Michigan. That 1993 team finished 8-4 and ranked #21 by the AP. They defeated Ohio State 28-0 and won their bowl game 42-7 against North Carolina State (Hall of Fame Bowl).

Vance Bedford (DB Coach 1995-98; Secondary Coach 2007): Now Defensive Coordinator at his alma mater, the University of Texas.

Tony Dews (WR Coach 2008-10);

All with the Arizona Wildcats and Rich Rodriguez – Dews as WR Coach; McGee as Offensive Coordinator; and Smith as QB Coach.
The Wildcats enter the bowl game with a 10-3 record, ranked #10 in the nation. Winners of the Pac-12 South, they fell to #2 Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship Game.

Friday January 2

Iowa vs. Tennessee, 3:20pm ET, ESPN
TaxSlayer Bowl; Jacksonville, FL.
Steve Stripling (Defensive Line Coach 2005-07): Stripling is in his second season as Defensive Line Coach at the University of Tennessee.
The Volunteers finished the regular season with a 6-6 record.

Season Completed

Jay Hopson (Linebackers Coach 2008-09): Now Head Coach of Alcorn State. The Braves defeated Southern University 38-24 to win the SWAC Championship Game. Alcorn State finished its season 10-3.

Curt Mallory (linebacker 1988-91); and
Roy Manning (linebacker 2000-04)
Curt Mallory and Manning are both coaching with their alma mater. Curt is in his fourth season; Manning is in his second season.
The Wolverines finished the season 5-7. Head Coach Brady Hoke was fired on Tuesday December 2, and all assistant coaches, including Mallory and Manning, were asked to cease team activity.

Jim Lyall (defensive lineman 1970-73)
Lyall is now Head Coach of the NAIA Siena Heights Saints. The Saints finished the season 6-4, and were co-champs of the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast League in this their third season of varsity competition. Lyall was named NAIA Region 2 Coach of the Year by the American Football Coaches Association. He was also MSFA conference Coach of the Year.

Adam Stenavich (offensive line 2001-05): Now in his first season as Offensive Line Coach for Northern Arizona. The Lumberjacks of the FCS finished their season with a record of 7-5.

Bruce Tall (Defensive Line Coach 2008-10): Now UNC Charlotte Defensive Coordinator.
In their second season in program history, the 49ers of the FCS finished with a record of 5-6.

Mike Hankwitz (tight end 1967-69): A senior on the 1969 team, Hankwitz is now the Defensive Coordinator for Northwestern. The Wildcats finished their season with a 5-7 record.

Greg Frey (OL Coach 2008-10): Now OL Coach, Indiana.
The Hoosiers finished their season with a 4-8 record.

Marcus Knight (wide receiver 1996-99): A senior on Team 120, Knight is now Northern Michigan University Wide Receivers Coach. A Division II squad, the Wildcats finished their season 3-8.

Scott Shafer (Defensive Coordinator 2008): Shafer is in his second season as Head Coach of the Orange.
Syracuse finished its season with a 3-9 record.

Greg Robinson (Defensive Coordinator 2009-10): Now Defensive Coordinator, San Jose State University. The Spartans finished their season with a 3-9 record.

Matt Dyson (linebacker 1990-94): A senior on Team 115, Dyson is now Head Coach for George Mason University, a club team.

Curt Mallory and Manning are both coaching with their alma mater. Curt is in his fourth season; Manning is in his second season.
The Wolverines finished the season 5-7. Head Coach Brady Hoke was fired on Tuesday December 2, and all assistant coaches, including Mallory and Manning, were asked to cease team activity.

Jim Lyall (defensive lineman 1970-73)
Lyall is now Head Coach of the NAIA Siena Heights Saints. The Saints finished the season 6-4, and were co-champs of the Mid-States Football Association Mideast League in this their third season of varsity competition. Lyall was named Coach of the Year for the conference.

Adam Stenavich (offensive line 2001-05): Now in his first season as Offensive Line Coach for Northern Arizona. The Lumberjacks of the FCS finished their season with a record of 7-5.

Bruce Tall (Defensive Line Coach 2008-10): Now UNC Charlotte Defensive Coordinator.
In their second season in program history, the 49ers of the FCS finished with a record of 5-6.

Mike Hankwitz (tight end 1967-69): A senior on the 1969 team, Hankwitz is now the Defensive Coordinator for Northwestern. The Wildcats finished their season with a 5-7 record.

Greg Frey (OL Coach 2008-10): Now OL Coach, Indiana.
The Hoosiers finished their season with a 4-8 record.

Marcus Knight (wide receiver 1996-99): A senior on Team 120, Knight is now Northern Michigan University Wide Receivers Coach. A Division II squad, the Wildcats finished their season 3-8.

Scott Shafer (Defensive Coordinator 2008): Shafer is in his second season as Head Coach of the Orange.
Syracuse finished its season with a 3-9 record.

Adam Braithwaite (Safeties Coach, 2010): Now in his third season with UT Chattanooga, and his second as Defensive Coordinator.
Chattanooga, 8-3 and ranked #9 in FCS, visit Furman in a 3:30pm ET kickoff. Braithwaite is part of a team which has has won its conference this season.
